Research Interests
I am interested in social cognition and emotion in humans. We are applying the lesion method to studies of the recognition of emotion in facial expressions, stories, tone of voice, music, and film, as well as to studies of social judgment. We have found that the human amygdala, together with cortical structures in right hemisphere, are key structures for these capacities. We are also investigating the ways in which emotion can influence other cognitive processes, such as decision-making and memory.
