Contributions to the hospitals' Caring Fund—which 1,088 patients and other friends supported with gifts totaling $46,856 in fiscal year 2007—are used to fund ongoing enhancements in all aspects of patient care and services at UI Hospitals and Clinics.

In addition to these gifts to the annual Caring Fund, thousands of individuals and corporations supported specific clinical areas and programs that enhance the care experience for patients and their families, including Patient's Library, Spiritual Services, and Child Life Therapy.

From July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007, 2,984 contributors gave UI Hospitals and Clinics and Ui Children's Hospital more than $601,000 through The University of Iowa Foundation.
