Economic Impact of UI Health Care

UI Health Care is important to Iowa in many significant ways beyond its missions of patient care, education, and research. According to a study conducted by the consulting firm Tripp Umbach of Pittsburgh, UI Health Care contributes $3.4 billion to the state’s economy and is responsible for 25,000 jobs in the state. UI Health Care’s spending within the state generates $125 million in tax revenue. The research enterprise alone brought in $188 million in external funding.
