Each of the UI Health Care components is highly ranked nationally. UI Hospitals and Clinics ranked for the 18th consecutive year among U.S. News & World Report magazine’s "America's Best Hospitals" with eight of the hospitals’ specialties listed in the nation’s Top 40.
Two specialties, otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat), and ophthalmology and visual sciences (eyes), ranked second and sixth, respectively, among the nation's Top 10. UI Children’s Hospital is ranked among the Top 20 in the nation by Child magazine.
UI Carver College of Medicine is highly ranked among graduate programs by U.S. News & World Report. It ranks 13th among research schools and 14th in educating primary care physicians among public medical schools. Individual programs are also highly ranked, with the physician assistant program ranked 1st in the nation, physical therapy 3rd, rural medicine 4th, internal medicine 10th, and family medicine 13th among public medical schools.
University of Iowa Physicians, Iowa’s largest multi-specialty physician group practice, has 269 members in the Web database “Best Doctors in America,” nearly half of the total for the entire state. In addition, 61 percent of the state’s doctors who made the list trained at The University of Iowa.

Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is the state’s only cancer center with prestigious comprehensive status from the National Cancer Institute and one of less than 60 in the U.S.
The Burn Treatment Center is recognized as a quality burn center by the American College of Surgeons and the American Burn Association.
The Trauma Service has the highest possible designation for trauma care with pediatric commitment.
UI Hospitals and Clinics was the first in the state to receive the prestigious Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence.
