The Office of the Vice President for Medical Affairs integrates planning and operations for the three components of UI Health Care—the UI Carver College of Medicine, UI Hospitals and Clinics, and UI Physicians (the physician group practice).
This administrative structure combines the finances, planning, information systems, communications and marketing, legal and governmental affairs with fundraising and development under a single senior leadership team. The Vice President also evaluates and manages leadership personnel of UI Health Care as well as develops a comprehensive system for strategic performance evaluation.
The Vice President of Medical Affairs leads UI Health Care in:
- Integrated strategic planning with a focus on patient care
- Integrated decision-making process
- Integrated capital and financial plans
- Oversee the effective leadership o the clinical enterprise including inpatient and ambulatory care
- Leverage the teaching, research, and clinical services to provide high quality and valued patient care services
The focus for UI Health Care is on conducting biomedical research, training health professionals, providing rare and highly specialized clinical services, innovating in clinical care, caring for poor and underserved patients, insuring high quality and safe care, and providing evidence of continuous improvement.
The Vice President reports directly to the UI President in all matters pertaining to UI Health care and serves as a member of the UI President’s Council. |
