Generally, ambulatory surgery means you usually get to go home the same day as your surgery. At UI Ambulatory Surgery, such surgeries include:  

• Ear, nose and throat procedures, such as ear tubes, tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies, and plastic surgery
• Orthopedic surgery, such as carpal tunnel release, shoulder and knee surgery
• General surgery, such as excising breast lumps and hernia repairs
• Eye surgery, such as removing cataracts and some plastic surgery
• Gynecologic procedures, such as dilation and curettage (D&C) and hysteroscopy
• Urologic procedures, such as bladder examinations and biopsies
