Save the date for the 2009 tournament: August 18.

Proceeds from the annual Burn Treatment Center Golf Invitational at the Brown Deer Golf Course in Coralville, IA, will help people with burn injuries by supporting the Burn Treatment Center at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The Burn Treatment Center is the state's only verified burn center. Specialists provide comprehensive care to adult and pediatric patients throughout their entire recoveries, including following their discharge from the hospital.

The Burn Treatment Center and University of Iowa Children's Hospital provide an important opportunity for ongoing healing for burned children. The Miracle Burn Camp helps children between the ages of eight and 18 to learn in a positive environment how to live with their burn injuries.

The Burn Treatment Center and UI Children's Hospital also offer a key fire safety program for children. The Kids on the Block puppeteer program reaches students in their classrooms and helps them learn how to prevent burn injuries. Specialists also provide re-entry programs to help ease the transition back to school or work for burn patients. Funds raised during the annual Burn Treatment Center Golf Invitational will support these and other efforts.

The event will also sponsor research and education for the healthcare providers at UI Hospitals and Clinics. A wide variety of conferences and seminars are held annually to keep the most current data and practices within our grasp. This helps the staff at the UI Burn Treatment Center provide quality care to all who enter our center of excellence.

Registration and lunch for this four-person, best shot event will open at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. a dinner and auction will follow the tournament. The deadline for registration for the event is annually by August 1st. The Iowa Fire Sprinkler Contractors Association is presenting the event.
