In February of 2006 nursing staff from the University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center joined again with St. Florian Fire and Burn Foundation and Camp Foster YMCA to put together a weekend retreat for burn survivors ages 18-25. This weekend retreat was designed to be a transition for these survivors from their years at Miracle Burn Camp into their adult lives and other support systems.

We identified a need to put together support for these young adults during a tough and already challenging time in their lives. We were able to pull together community volunteers as well as fire fighters and healthcare providers to educate and guide these survivors about life skills and the helpful hints for entering adulthood whether they chose the college track or the working world option.

Our numbers have continued to grow and we are looking forward to another successful retreat in February. Deadlines for registration will be January 15th annually. For more information please contact:
