Helping Yourself

There are certain activities you will complete every day, including exercise, mouth care, showering, breathing exercises, and central venous catheter care. Your nurses will help you arrange a schedule of activity to keep you active and prevent infection. You will be encouraged to get dressed and be out of bed as much as possible. Most patients prefer to wear sweat clothes or other loose fitting clothing.

Now is the time for you to get to work on those projects you had planned, or watch those movies you missed at the theater, or read that book you never had time for. We encourage you to use the exercise bicycle or hop up on the treadmill for a stationary walk. The goal is for you to keep busy and provide yourself with a much needed diversion.
