Thank you for your interest in joining the Iowa Marrow Donor Program registry. Your generosity may give someone a second chance at life.
You must be in good health and between the ages of 18 and 60 to register as a marrow donor.
Follow these eight steps through the decision and application process.
- Read the brochure: Everyday Heroes
- Use the Health Screening Worksheet
- Read "What You Should Know About Becoming a Marrow Donor" and decide whether you can be a marrow donor
- Read the "Consent for Participation" in the Iowa Marrow Donor Program carefully
- Decide whether you want to register as a marrow donor. Remember:
- If you are selected as a marrow donor, you must be prepared to donate to whomever you match
- If you are selected as a marrow donor, we will ask you to travel to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City to donate your marrow. (Travel expenses will be paid).
- Fill in all the blanks on the "Consent for Participation," including the donor information and health screening. Keep a copy of the "Consent for Participation" for your records.
- Return only the completed, two-page "Consent for Participation" to the Iowa Marrow Donor Program:
