Physical Therapists

A physical therapist will help you stay active during your hospitalization and give you tips on exercises you can do in your room. During your hospitalization, you will spend several weeks in protective isolation. Without physical activity, your muscles may begin to become very weak. Our physical therapist will work with you to help you maintain an adequate level of muscle strength. Our goal is for you to have enough muscle strength to do normal activities at the time you are discharged.

You will be asked to participate in regular physical therapy sessions. These sessions will help keep your muscle groups working well. The sessions usually begin after you recover from the initial phase of therapy (around the second week of your hospitalization) and continue until your are discharged. In general, you will get once daily sessions of physical therapy until you reach the level for safe discharge.
