Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

After 10 years, about 97.9 percent of men diagnosed with early stage prostate cancer are still alive, but only 17.6 percent of those diagnosed with advanced stage prostate cancer survive 10 years.

Diagnostic tests may include:

  • A rectal exam to feel for lumps in the prostate
Ultrasound uses sound waves to make a picture of the bladder. If cancer is suspected, removal of a small piece of tissue (biopsy) may be done to remove a sample of the cells from the prostate.
  • x-rays
  • CT Scan
  • MRI
  • Blood Tests
  • Urine Tests
  • Prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
