Your physician will take a complete medical history to check for risk factors and symptoms. During a physical exam, your physician feels the testicles for
swelling or tenderness and for any lump. Tests for testicular cancer may include an ultrasound exam. An ultrasound can help your doctor tell if a lump is
solid or filled with fluid. If the lump is solid, it may be a cancer and your doctor may suggest additional further tests or surgery to remove the tumor.
Blood tests can help your physician diagnose testicular tumors. Many testicular cancers secrete high levels of certain proteins (called
tumor markers), and if they are present in the blood, it suggests that there is a
testicular tumor.
