2007 Oncology Registry Report
Highlights
UI Hospitals and Clinics provides lifetime follow-up on all patients accessioned into the registry. With advancements in our automated follow-up process the UI Hospitals and Clinics has been able to decrease the number of letters being mailed out to patients, family and/or local physicians by 57% within the past five years.

UI Hospitals and Clinics averages 57% return on all correspondence mailed out. The HCCC Oncology Registry has a follow-up specialist whose primary duties are to secure and verify patient follow-up information. Currently UI Hospitals and Clinics actively follows over 37,000 patients.
As required by the ACoS CoC- each year a 90% follow-up rate for the last five years must be maintained and an 80% follow-up rate compliance must be maintained for patients since reference date (UI Hospitals and Clinics reference date is 1938). UI Hospitals and Clinics exceeds these requirements obtaining 99% compliance rating for both categories.

Accessioned Cases by the HCCC for calendar year 2006
The HCCC accessioned 3,164 cases for the 2006 calendar year. The majority, 87% were analytic and 13% were non-analytic. The following shows the number of cases accessioned from the past 5 years.

An overall 10.3 percent increase in cases accessioned since 2002 is demonstrated by the HCCC. [HCCC collected CIS of cervix and SCCA of skin up through the accession year 2002. The totals of these cases were removed from the overall total.]
