Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a usually slowly progressing form of blood cancer in which too many of one type of white blood cell, lymphocytes, are found in the peripheral blood and bone marrow. Most patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia are older than 50 and many have no symptoms at the time of diagnosis. It is the most common type of leukemia in adults.
