Thyroid cancer is the most common cancer of glands, but only accounts for about 1 % of all cancers. Thyroid cancer most often affects people between the ages 25-65. There are four types of thyroid cancer: follicular, papillary, medullary and anaplastic. Age at diagnosis is one of the most important factors in determining prognosis, as are size and extra capsular extension–whether tumor has grown out side the thyroid.
