Purpose
The Central Microscopy Research Facility provides instrumentation and technical assistance to research programs involving the use of scanning and transmission electron microscopy, light and confocal microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, freeze-fracture, and x-ray microanalysis.
Services Provided:
The Central Microscopy Research Facilities (CMRF) provides instrumentation and technical assistance to research programs involving the use of:
- scanning electron microscopy
- transmission electron microscopy
- light microscopy
- laser capture microdissection
- confocal microscopy
- multi-photon microscopy
- cryo-techniques
- elemental analysis
- atomic force microscopy
- bioluminescence imaging
The facilities also provide all solutions, supplies, and training necessary for investigators involving microtomy including:
- specialized staining and embedding techniques
- negative staining
- metal coating
- autoradiography
- cryo-fixation
- cryomicrotomy
- enzyme-cytochemistry
- immuno-cytochemistry
- morphometry and
- stereology
The CMRF serves both the experienced and novice investigator, and provides training for those in need. Alternatively, CMRF staff can handle all or parts of a project. The facilities are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, operating on a first-come, first-served basis..
