Q: I am an assistant professor, and my initial nationally competitive research grant was not renewed. Can I apply to my institution for an IRG? A: Although the national guidelines for the ACS IRG allow institutions to award grants for applications from individuals whose initial national grant was not renewed and who are still at the level of assistant professor, we have not given high priority to such applications, and have not supported such applications at our institution in the past. Researchers who fit into this category are strongly encouraged to contact Cancer Center Administration prior to submitting an application.
