Management of Capital Projects and More

The goals of the Capital Management Department at UI Hospitals and Clinics are to:

• Create patient and family-centered healing environments
• Promote design that facilitates the delivery of care and enhances teaching and research
• Optimize the use of real property and capital resources
• Protect patients, visitors and staff

The department provides these services:

• Preparing capital construction project budget estimates
• Supporting capital budgeting process through evaluation of requests and recommendation of most viable projects
• Managing the planning, design, construction and commissioning of all capital construction projects at UI Hospitals and Clinics ranging from minor to major new building project improvements
• Overseeing interior design standards
• Interior design consultation/space planning
• Preparing statement of conditions and monitoring plans for improvements
• Reviewing and analyzing building codes
• Maintaining building standards
• Engaging architects and engineers for project related studies and design/supervision functions
• Maintaining applicable JCAHO accreditation standards
