Volunteer Research Studies

INVITING VOLUNTEERS 18 to 50 years old, with finger changes in skin color, poor circulation and pain after cold exposure (or Raynaud's Phenomenon) to participate in a research study. Finger blood flow changes will be studied before and after various doses of an experimental drug applied to the skin surface. A laser imager will scan the fingers to measure blood flow. There are six visits to the Clinical Research Unit, each lasting between 1 to 3 hours. No other health problems. Payment provided. Please call the University of Iowa Human Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory at 319-384-8320.

VOLUNTEERS INVITED: First and second-degree relatives (siblings, children, nieces and nephews) of individuals with schizophrenia or a related disorder between the ages of 13-25 are invited to participate in a research study investigating cognitive skills and brain function conducted at the Department of Psychiatry. Compensation available. For more information, call Lindsey at (319) 384-6884 or email her at lindsey-fuhrmeister@uiowa.edu.

MOOD STUDY: Have you noticed a change in sleep habits, appetite, or weight; feeling bad about yourself or guilty about letting others down; or trouble concentrating or remembering things? If you answered yes to two or more of these, and are between the ages of 50 and 90, you may be eligible for a study on moods and behaviors. Subjects will complete cognitive assessment, interviews, questionnaires, and an MRI during three visits to UI Hospitals and Clinics. Paid compensation provided. Contact Erika Holm at 319-353-8514 or erika-holm@uiowa.edu for more information.

VOLUNTEERS INVITED: The Department of Radiology is recruiting healthy adult men and women subjects for a project assessing the effect of bowel prep on the quality of the abdominal ultrasound examination. If you wish to participate, call the ultrasound department at 319-384-9219 or 319-356-7637. No compensation is available.
