Responsibilities:

• Performs daily surveillance for hospital-associated infections
• Assesses trends; identify opportunities for improvement, design and implement specific interventions to reduce healthcare-associated infections
• Investigates outbreaks and clusters of infections at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
• Implements national infection control guidelines and standards to help prevent transmission of infections
• Presents data and activities that improve the safety of the environment
• Facilitates process improvement and sentinel event teams
