The Department of Operational Improvement


UI Hospitals and Clinics' Department of Operational Improvement serves as resource on process improvement methods and training. The office:

  • Tracks key performance measures, proactively and on request
  • Plans and coordinates performance improvement activities, and
  • Monitors the results.

Staff members identify process improvement opportunities; lead Lean Sigma business improvement activities, including Kaizen (a Japanese word meaning "good change") events; and incorporate process improvement and maintenance tools into new procedures.
