David Williams is a man who has an enthusiasm for life and passes this on to others in many ways. He is a 14 gallon blood donor who feels that donating blood is very important. David says, “As long as I can give and I am healthy, it is up to people who are able to, to keep on donating.”
David grew up in Wisconsin and spent 30 years there in Public Safety and Law Enforcement. He is now retired from law enforcement and enjoys riding his “Hog” motorcycle. He moved to Iowa City 4 years ago, to be with the woman he married last July, 2006.
David not only is a volunteer blood donor, but is a Volunteer with the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. He volunteers at the Roof Top Café, fills in other places as needed and 1 to 2 times a weeks, takes the Hospitality Cart to 15-20 units at the hospital.
He also is in the UIHC Caring Clowns Program, joining in 2003 and becoming the first male clown in the program. Twice a month, he goes to the Adult Cancer and Chemo floors to bring a smile to faces of cancer patients and the staff who take care of the patients. David’s Clown Character is Fred Paintz. If you meet him, you will remember him, for his funny, corny jokes and for the twinkle in his eye. |
