Volunteer Opportunities

The DeGowin Blood center is pleased to offer the following volunteer opportunities.

All volunteers at UI Hospitals and Clinics must attend Volunteer Training through the UI Hospitals and Clinics Volunteer Program.

Refreshment area host
Responsibilities include serving post-donation refreshments at local blood drives and the DeGowin Blood Center. Visit with donors and make them feel comfortable and appreciated as they rest the required post donation time. Other responsibilities would be to educate donors about automated donations (education and scripts provided by the donor recruitment coordinator). Restocking of refreshments.

Volunteer truck loader
Responsibilites would be to assist the Motor Vehicle Operator II in loading and unloading the blood drive vans for blood drives. This could occur in short time frames depending on the site of the drive.

Telerecruitment
Volunteers would call from existing donor base to schedule donors for donation at the DeGowin Blood Center.
