Bloodborne pathogen exposure (BBP)

Must complete an Exposure Incident Form, Appendix F from Health Protection Office web site. http://www.uiowa.edu/~hpo/.

Confidential medical evaluation is performed face-to-face, which includes: evaluation of exposure, counseling, post-exposure medication, baseline and post-exposure lab testing, immunizations/immunoglobulin, scheduled follow-up appointments, informing person of lab results, and appropriate paperwork documentation.

Source identification and blood testing is performed if possible and risk factors/lab results shared with exposed employee.
