In 1977, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics established the Staff Screening Clinic to provide a health screening service for its faculty and staff.
In 1983, the University established the University Occupational Health Service to monitor other University employees who were occupationally exposed to potential hazards.
On March 17, 1997, the University Occupational Health Service and Staff Screening Clinic merged to become the University Employee Health Clinic (UEHC). This merger created a coordinated and comprehensive employee health service for the University.
