Contracts

A contract packet is sent to residents and fellows prior to beginning a training program. This contract packet includes a welcoming letter with a variety of information related to the appointment at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  The information includes:

• Two copies of the contract
  • Contracts for Residents and Fellows
  • Future Appointment Agreement
• General Statement of Educational Experience Locus and General Responsibilities of House Staff
• Policy for Resident Supervision and Duty Hours
  • Policy for Resident Supervision and Duty Hours (Institutional)
  • Program Supervision and Duty Hour Policies
• Bylaws, Rules, And Regulations of UI Hospitals and Clinics (Distributed by Graduate Medical Education Office)
• Policy and Procedures Regarding Professional Activity Outside the Training Program by House Staff Physicians and Dentists (Moonlighting)
• Statement on Stipends, Benefits, and Other UI Hospitals and Clinics Services
• Statement on House Staff Member Concerns

Advancing house staff members receive a contract and corresponding documents each year of his/her training program.  Contracts for advancing residents and fellows are distributed through the respective program directors and coordinators.

An original signed copy of each house staff member's contract is filed in the GME Office.
