Each person connected with the UI Health Care is encouraged to:

• Recognize and acknowledge that attitudes and actions affect patients and other individuals within the UI Hospitals and Clinics.

The Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award Program is designed to recognize and reward individuals who, consistent with the above goals, have gone above and beyond their formal, identified job duties to exceed the needs of our patients, visitors, and staff, or Above and Beyond the Call of Duty. The program is open to all staff, students, and volunteers who are part of the UI Health Care environment.

Recognition forms for the program are available from the Hospital Human Resources office, at the Main Information Desk or in desktop displays on inpatient units or clinic reception desks throughout the hospital facility.

Individuals who believe a UI Health Care staff member or volunteer has gone above and beyond what is expected in their normal job duties, can complete the recognition form and send it to Hospital Human Resources, C110 GH.

Patients and/or visitors should turn completed forms into the clinic reception desk, nursing station, information desk, or patient discharge.

CEO Above and Beyond Award
From the group of Above and Beyond Nominations that are submitted each month, the UI Health Care Staff Recognition Committee will review and select one from that group to receive special recognition from the Hospital CEO as the "CEO Above & Beyond of the Month". The awardee will receive a certificate and pin in a special presentation by the CEO and Director of Hospital Human Resources. In addition, this individual will be recognized in the recognition bulletin board and in the Hospital newsletter.

Annual ABCD Celebration Reception
All individuals that receive an Above and Beyond the Call of Duty nomination from the previous fiscal year will be invited to attend an open-house reception event in their honor. Management Staff members and other staff are invited to recognize the achievements of these staff.
