UI Health Care is dedicated to the professional and educational development of our staff, and staff may be eligible to participate in our tuition reimbursement program.
The UI Health Care Tuition Reimbursement Programs include:
- RN to BSN Progression Program
- Registered Nurse Reimbursement Program
- Professional and Scientific, Merit Exempt, and Merit Confidential Staff Program
Professional and Scientific (including nursing staff), Merit Exempt and Merit Confidential staff members who are paid by UI Hospitals and Clinics in a 50 percent time (or greater) budgeted position may be eligible for reimbursement.
What does it cover?
The program covers UI on-campus courses, correspondence courses, special certification exams, as well as other accredited college courses (i.e. Kirkwood College). Reimbursement under this program is based on the current value of three semester hours at the University of Iowa (undergraduate or graduate) per semester based on the Liberal Arts Department fee schedule.
Tuition assistance can be applied toward a relevant graduate or undergraduate degree, appropriate certification or specialized training that is relevant to the staff member's UI Health Care position, the needs of the employing department, and/or assists the Hospital to carry out one of its service missions. The UI Hospitals and Clinics Tuition Reimbursement program does not cover General Education Requirement courses.
The RN to BSN Progression program is an adjusted tuition reimbursement program supported by UI Hospitals and Clinics in cooperation with the University of Iowa Nursing Collaborative. This program is designed to fully reimburse RNs who hold a budgeted appointment of 85 percent or greater for 30 semester hours of course work in the Nursing Major Year (Phase Two). Reimbursement is prorated for RNs with a budgeted appointment of 50-84 percent. A three-year post degree employment commitment is required.
