Principal Investigator: Dr. Jane S. Paulsen
Description: We are investigating factors that influence the age that people develop Huntington’s disease and the severity of their illness. The study will examine changes in DNA and genetic material in blood cells that are associated with the expression of HD.
The study involves collecting standardized medical evaluation information pertaining to the age of onset, rate of disease progression, and symptoms of depression and weight loss for persons with HD. This project is designed to identify disease-modifying genes, their gene products, and to eventually develop treatments derived from these insights that may permit us to delay the onset of this disease for others.
The study is being conducted at 20 sites worldwide. For more information, contact Andrew Juhl (email: andrew-juhl@uiowa.edu) at 319-353-5451. |
