Center Directors:

Michael W. O'Hara, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology, Starch Faculty Fellow, and Co-director of the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980 and has spent his entire academic career at the University of Iowa.

Scott Stuart, M.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology and a Co-director of the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center. He received his M.D. from the University of Kansas and completed residency training in psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. He also completed a Master's Degree in Preventive Medicine at the University of Iowa prior to joining the faculty in 1993. Dr. Stuart also directs the University of Iowa Women's Wellness and Counseling Service.

Faculty:

Jane Engeldinger, M.D., is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received her medical degree and specialty training at the University of Iowa, where she has been a faculty member since 1980.

Hristina Koleva, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist who joined the University faculty in 2010. She graduated from the psychiatry residency program at the University of Iowa and received special training in women’s mental health through the WWC. She is actively involved in clinical work, research and medical education. She is particularly interested in mood disorders and has specifically studied emotional changes with aging and women’s mental health. Her current focus of work is on mental health issues during perimenopause.

Robin Kopelman M.D., M.P.H. is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Associate Director of the Women's Wellness and Counseling Service. She received her M.D. from the University of Iowa and completed residency training in psychiatry at the University of Iowa in 2003. She also completed a Master's Degree in Public Health, with an emphasis on community and behavioral health, in 2005.

Linda Madson M.D., is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and a staff psychiatrist in the Women's Wellness and Counseling Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She received her M.D. from the University of Iowa in 1990 and completed residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME in 1994. She worked for 5 years at the Abbe Center for Community Mental Health in Cedar Rapids, IA prior to joining the faculty at the University of Iowa in 2000.

Stacey Pawlak, Ph.D., is a Staff Psychologist at the Women's Wellness and Counseling Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She has worked as an interviewer and research therapist for the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center. She completed her clinical internship at the University of Iowa's University Counseling Service in 1997 and received her Ph.D. from the University of Memphis in 1998.

Lisa S. Segre Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Nursing. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1993. She also completed a Master's Degree in Community-Clinical Psychology at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County and was a faculty member at Ithaca College prior to moving to Iowa.

Professional Staff:

Jennifer Bowman-Reif, M.S., is the IDCRC Lab Coordinator. She received her M.S. in clinical psychology at Emporia State University in 1996. She has an extensive background in therapy with children and families as well as research in depression and anxiety disorders.

Jenny Gringer Richards, M.S.W., is a Clinical Interviewer for several studies in the IDCRC. She received her M.S.W from the University of Iowa in 1998.

Sarah L. Mott, B.A., is a Research Assistant for several studies in the IDCRC. She received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Iowa in 2009 and is currently working towards her M.S. in statistics.

Whitney Lester, M.A., is a Research Assistant for several studies in the IDCRC. She received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Iowa in 2008 and her M.A. from the University of Alabama in 2010.

Heather Rickels, M.A., is a Research Assistant for several studies in the IDCRC. She received her B.A. in psychology from Grinnell College in 2000 and her M.A. in Educational Measurement Statistics from the University of Iowa in 2008.

Graduate Students:

Crystal Edler Schiller, M.A., is a graduate student in clinical psychology. She received a B.S. in psychology in 2003 and a M.A. in psychology in 2006 from the University of Iowa. She is currently completing her clinical internship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Crystal’s research interests include neurobiological mechanisms of psychopathology in women, including postpartum depression.

Melissa Buttner, B.A.,is a graduate student in Clinical Psychology. She received her B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, 1996 and her M.A. from the University of Iowa in 2009. Melissa's current research interests include the etiology, assessment, and treatment of women's mood disorders.

Sheehan D. Fisher, M.A., is a graduate student in clinical psychology. He received his B.A. in psychology from Rutgers University, 2006 and his M.A. from the University of Iowa, 2009. Sheehan’s current research interests include maternal/paternal depression and child/adolescent psychopathology within the context of the family environment.

Jennifer E. McCabe, B.A., is a graduate student in clinical psychology.  She received her B.A. in psychology and history from Gonzaga University in 2006.  Jennifer’s current research examines the effects of maternal psychopathology and personality on parenting behaviors, child temperament, and maternal stress.

J Austin Williamson, B.S., is a graduate student in clinical psychology. He received his B.S. in psychology and sociology from Vanderbilt University in 2008. Austin’s current research interests include depression and anxiety in the context of the family.

Rebecca Grekin, B.A., is a graduate student in clinical psychology.  She received her degree in sociology from the University of Michigan in 2007.  Rebecca's current research interests include the effects of trauma and traumatic stress symptoms on pregnant and postpartum women and their infants.
