Center Directors:
Michael W. O'Hara, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology, Starch Faculty Fellow, and Co-director of the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980 and has spent his entire academic career at the University of Iowa.
Scott Stuart, M.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology and a Co-director of the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center. He received his M.D. from the University of Kansas and completed residency training in psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. He also completed a Master’s Degree in Preventive Medicine at the University of Iowa prior to joining the faculty in 1993. Dr. Stuart also directs the University of Iowa Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service.
Faculty:
Jane Engeldinger, M.D., is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received her medical degree and specialty training at the University of Iowa, where she has been a faculty member since 1980.
Jess Fiedorowicz, M.D., M.S. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa. He received his M.D. with Honors in Research from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2001, completed his residency training in psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2005, and completed a clinical research fellowship at the University of Iowa in 2007, where he also received a master's degree in clinical investigation.
Robin Kopelman M.D., M.P.H. is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Assistant Director for Research and Clinical Services in the Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service. She received her M.D. from the University of Iowa and completed residency training in psychiatry at the University of Iowa in 2003. She also completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health, with an emphasis on community and behavioral health, in 2005.
Linda Madson M.D., is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and a staff psychiatrist in the Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She received her MD from the University of Iowa in 1990 and completed residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME in 1994. She worked for 5 years at the Abbe Center for Community Mental Health in Cedar Rapids, IA prior to joining the faculty at the University of Iowa in 2000. She is currently working on a Masters Degree in Medical Education with expected graduation in spring 2010.
Joy Moel, Ph.D. is a Staff Psychologist in the Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service. She has been engaged in research, training, and clinical work at the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center for over a decade. She completed her Ph.D. in counseling psychology and psychology internship at the University of Iowa in 2007.
Stacey Pawlak, Ph.D., is a Staff Psychologist at the Women's Wellness and Counseling Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She has worked as an interviewer and research therapist for the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center. She completed her clinical internship at the University of Iowa's University Counseling Service in 1997 and received her Ph.D. from the University of Memphis in 1998.
Lisa S. Segre Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Nursing. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1993. She also completed a Master's Degree in Community-Clinical Psychology at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County and was a faculty member at Ithaca College prior to moving to Iowa.
Scott Temple, Ph.D., is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Temple University in 1980, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Family Research, George Washington University Medical Center. He trained in cognitive therapy at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research, and is a Founding Fellow in the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. His clinical and research interests include mood and anxiety disorders, as well as psychosis.
Beth Troutman, Ph.D., ABPP is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry. She completed her Master's degree in clinical psychology at the University of Iowa, her pre-doctoral internship in clinical child and adolescent psychology at the Yale University Child Study Center, and her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Iowa. She is board-certified in clinical child and adolescent psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology.
Professional Staff:
Jennifer-Bowman-Reif, M.S. is the IDCRC Clinical/Lab Coordinator. She received her Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology at Emporia State University in 1996. She has an extensive background in therapy with children and families as well as research in depression and anxiety disorders.
Jenny Gringer Richards, MSW, is a Clinical Interviewer for several studies in the IDCRC. She received her MSW from the University of Iowa in 1998.
Graduate Students:
Melissa Buttner, B.A., is in her second year of graduate studies in Clinical Psychology. She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996. Melissa’s current research interests include the etiology, assessment, and treatment of women’s mood disorders.
Crystal Edler, M.A. is a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology department, a research assistant in the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center, and a practicum student in the Women's Wellness and Counseling Center at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. She completed her B.S. in 2003 and her M.A. in 2006 at the University of Iowa.
Dana Figlock, M.A. is a Clinical Psychology graduate student at the University of Iowa. She is currently working at the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center under Drs. Michael W. O’Hara, Scott Stuart, and Peter Nathan. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Muhlenberg College in 2003.
Sheehan D. Fisher, B.A. is a Clinical Psychology graduate student at the University of Iowa. He is currently working at the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center under Drs. Michael W. O’Hara and Scott Stuart. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University in 2006.
