Welcome to the Interpersonal Psychotherapy Institute
The mission of the Interpersonal Psychotherapy Institute is to facilitate the effective worldwide dissemination of Interpersonal Psychotherapy by providing certified training courses, clinical supervision, and teaching resources.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is an empirically tested treatment for mood, anxiety and eating disorders and a variety of interpersonal problems. Based on attachment and communication theory, IPT is designed to assist patients to more effectively deal with problems such as interpersonal disputes, role transitions, and grief and loss. Effective communication and problem solving are emphasized, as is the need to increase or more effectively utilize social support. IPT has been empirically validated for use with both adults and adolescents .
