The Application Proccess
Applications for residency training are accepted only through
the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS®). U.S. medical students
should contact the Dean's Office of their medical school and the ERAS® WebSite at the Association
of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Applications
are accepted from September 1 to November 1, and must be submitted no
later than November 1, two years prior to the expected July 1 starting
date - i.e. November 1, 2008 for commencement of a residency in July
1, 2010. All applications (including reactivated applications from previous
years) *must* be submitted (or resubmitted) through the ERAS® system.
The University of Iowa Dermatology Residency Selection Committee
requests that the following documents be submitted through the ERAS® Common
Application Form:
- Personal statement
- USMLE scores, Step 1 and (if available) Step 2
- ECFMG certificate, if applicable
- Dean's letter
- Transcript
- Three (3) letters of recommendation
- Wallet-sized photograph
Applicants are urged to submit all documents to ERAS® as soon as possible
in order that the credentials can be reviewed for the selection of applicants
who will be invited to Iowa City for interviews. Interviews are limited and will
be conducted in December 2008 and January 2009. Candidates selected for interview
will be notified by telephone or e-mail.
