The ETC is the only emergency room in eastern Iowa to staff board-certified pediatric specialists and provide convenient access to a wide array of pediatric specialists at UI Children’s Hospital.

Special patients require special care. Separate reception and treatment areas have been created for pediatric patients in the ETC. Children requiring emergency care, whenever possible, will be taken right from the triage area into a private, separate, pediatric room. If there is a slight delay in care, then we have a separate waiting area designed just for kids.
