For the protection of patients and staff, the new facility incorporates:

Modern Design Features

  • Lean design concepts and computer simulations ensure the most efficient flow for patients/staff
  • 28 spacious, private patient rooms, half with private restrooms
  • Three major critical care rooms
  • Three specialized trauma rooms, each able to accommodate two stretchers
  • Two rooms for psychiatric emergencies
  • One specialty room for ophthalmologic and dental emergencies
  • Special accommodations for evaluations of sexual assault victims, management of bariatric patients, and observation of patients with chest pain
  • Designated areas for pediatric and urgent care
  • Expanded nursing stations (four times larger than previous area) provide an unencumbered area for staff and specialty service consultations
  • Visible and accessible room layouts, strategic equipment placement, and user-friendly work areas
  • Hallway width increased from 8-feet to 10-feet wide
  • Private corridor to shield trauma arrivals from public

  • Trauma and emergency medicine administration
  • Teaching areas, including a 99-seat auditorium
