Emergency Treatment Center - Construction Update Notice

Week of May 16, 2005

Beginning May 23, ambulance drivers and individuals approaching University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics eastbound on Melrose Avenue will need to use an alternate route (see map) to access the Emergency Treatment Center.

Eastbound emergency traffic on Melrose Avenue will be routed through Grand Avenue Court to access Grand Avenue and continue toward the ETC. This is necessary due to road construction on South Grand Avenue which will limit traffic to one lane southbound until mid-August. Signs will be posted along both Melrose Avenue and Grand Avenue to help direct drivers.

Grand Avenue Court, currently not a through street, is being temporarily re-opened during this construction period.

Upon leaving the Emergency Treatment Center, drivers will still be able to turn westbound onto Grand Avenue to access Riverside Drive.
