Alcohol-related illnesses
Educational intervention
Evidence-based emergency care

Project Summary: Emergency Departments (ED) often serve as the primary healthcare access for the acutely intoxicated patient, as well as the chronic alcoholic. Currently patients who present for alcohol-related reasons are provided with a costly multivitamin therapy that may not be supported by current evidence. The goal of this project is to provide a brief intervention to ED staff in order to promote the use of a less expensive multivitamin treatment for acute intoxication, thus saving patients money, reducing ED staff time, and promoting evidence-based clinical care.
