Project Summary: The long-term goals of this project are to develop combinatorial therapies that can be delivered in the field or in the emergency room setting to reduce the physiological and cognitive damage resulting from traumatic brain injury (TBI). The specific aims of this project are to test individual drugs and determine the extent to which they reduce injury. Once effective individual treatments are identified, then combined treatments will be tested. The three drugs of primary interest are escitalopram (an antidepressant), erythropoietin, and delta opioids.

A related clinical project is titled "Pupillometers as a Potential Diagnostic Tool for Traumatic Brain Injury".
