Alumni

The Department of Family Medicine was established in 1970 with residents entering the Family Medicine Residency Program in 1972. Over 240 physicians have trained in the residency programs and are now practicing medicine and residing in most states and a few foreign countries. Sixty percent of our graduates entered private family practice following residency with others selecting (in order of frequency) emergency medicine, academic medicine, fellowships, urgent care, military or community health/public health positions.

Alumni Reception

Plans are underway for the 2007 Alumni Reception Thursday, April 12, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Iowa Memorial Union. The reception is held in conjunction with the Refresher Course scheduled April 10-13 at the Iowa Memorial Union.  This annual event recognizes our alumni and provides a social occasion to renew friendships and share accomplishments.  Albums and photo displays of former residents, faculty and staff are displayed. Participation in the Refresher Course is not required to attend the Alumni Reception.
