I grew up in a small university town in central India, and I completed medical school and three years of general medicine residency at the local NSCB Medical College. After residency I spent three years in Mexico City, learning their rich culture and the Spanish language, and also helped serve the health needs of an indigenous population. It is in that beautiful city that I and my husband had our fraternal twins. In the fall of 2004 we moved to Iowa City, drawn by the University of Iowa’s reputation in both the medical and non-medical fields (my husband's interest), and also because it is such a wonderful place for kids to grow up. I chose Family Medicine as I enjoy working with patients of all ages and genders, and my interests include preventive medicine and geriatrics. I currently spend all of my spare time with my husband and our twins. Email: padmalatha-collappakkam@uiowa.edu |
