Clinical ElectrophysiologyThe Division of Clinical Electrophysiology consists of 4 main clinical services; EEG/Evoked Potentials (EP) laboratories, EMG laboratories, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Sleep Disorders Center. Dr. Thoru Yamada, who also directs EEG/EP laboratories, heads the Division. Dr. Jun Kimura, directs EMG laboratories with co-director, Dr. Edward Aul. Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is directed by Dr. Mark Granner, with co-director Eric St. Louis. Sleep Disorders Center is directed by Dr. Mark E. Dyken. The Division has a long and reputable history dating back to 1930's when our EEG laboratory, one of the earliest EEG laboratories in the nation, was founded by Dr. John Knott, internationally recognized pioneer in EEG research. In early 1970, the EEG and EMG laboratories were combined and the Division of Clinical Electrophysiology was formed. The Division was then directed by Dr. Jun Kimura, former president of American Society of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (EMG Society) and currently President of World Congress of Neurological Society. With progress and expanded clinical services to epilepsy and sleep disorders, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Sleep Disorders Centers were founded in the Division. |
