Dystonia

Movement Disorders Division

Dystonia is defined as a syndrome of sustained muscle contractions, frequently causing twisting ("torsion") and repetitive movements, or abnormal postures. It is classified as generalized and focal dystonia (spasmodic torticollis, limb dystonia, writer's cramp, blepharospasm, spasmodic dysphonia). We provide medical treatment, botulinum toxin injections (Botox®, Myobloc®) and evaluation to assess the need for surgical treatment.
