Neurology Residency Application

PG-2 Year
Applications for residency training are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS®). Applications are accepted from September 1 to October 31, and must be submitted no later than October 31, two years prior to the expected July 1 starting date — i.e. October 31, 2008 for commencement of a residency in July 1, 2010. All applications (including reactivated applications from previous years) must be submitted (or resubmitted) through the ERAS® system.

The University of Iowa Neurology Residency Selection Committee requests that the following documents be submitted through the ERAS® Common Application Form:

  • Personal statement
  • USMLE scores, Step 1 and (if available) Step 2
  • ECFMG certificate, if applicable
  • Dean's letter
  • Transcript
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation
  • Wallet-sized color photograph

Applicants are urged to submit all documents to ERAS® as soon as possible in order that the credentials can be reviewed for the selection of applicants who will be invited to Iowa City for interviews. Interviews are limited and will be conducted in November and December, 2008 and January, 2009. Candidates selected for interview will be notified by telephone or e-mail.

PG-1 Year
Appointments for a PG-1 year in Neurology are available to those applicants who match for the PG-2 year. These positions are officially tendered through the NRMP. No separate application is required for PG-1 year positions.
