Interested applicants are invited to apply for a one- to two-year fellowship opportunity within the Department of Neurosurgery. Pre-Clinical and Post-Residency fellowships are available and provide the candidate the opportunity to participate fully in the clinical and teaching activities of the University of Iowa Neurosurgery residency training program. Fellows are supervised by internationally recognized faculty members and receive extensive exposure to the full range of clinical neurosurgery.
International applicants are also welcome to apply. Previous fellows have been successful in making use of this training opportunity to subsequently secure U.S. accredited neurosurgery residency positions. Applicants must have passed the USMLE and hold an ECFMG certificate.

Spine Fellowships
Spine Fellowships are available to post-residency applicants who wish to increase their training in complex spine procedures. The Neurosurgery/Spine Fellowship will provide the candidate an opportunity to actively participate in spine surgery under the supervision of internationally recognized faculty within the University of Iowa Department of Neurosurgery. The fellow will acquire skills including, but not limited to:
management of pathologies afflicting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines, stemming from traumatic, neoplastic, degenerative, congenital or infectious origins. Transoral, transthoracic, transabdominal and retroperitoneal approaches also will be emphasized. Download the MSWord application.
