UI Experts Offer Treatment
For High Risk Pregnancy
The Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Clinic
is directed by staff perinatologists (high risk pregnancy
experts) and obstetric geneticist, and assisted by a
nurse clinician, genetics counselor, and nurses. Services
include:
- Specialized ultrasound testing to rule out anomalies
- Counseling services for families regarding options for treatment, follow-up, and future childbearing
- Cordocentesis (fetal blood sampling)
- Intrauterine transfusion (IUT) for Rh disease and other disorders.
- Fetal therapy, i.e., shunts in fetal
bladder or chest
- Amniocentesis
- CVS (Chorionic villos sapling)
- Level II, Level III targeted detailed ultrasound
All scans are supervised and interpreted by board-certified obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, or geneticists with extensive ultrasound expertise and experience in fetal anomalies and intrauterine treatment. State of the art imaging modalities include power and color Doppler and others.
The staff perinatologists see patients with problems including:
- Advanced maternal age
- Serum screening abnormalities (first trimester screening)
