Prolapse Conditions
|
The UI experts in the Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Clinic can help women facing prolapse (bulging) problems, including:
- Cystocele--prolapse or bulging of the vagina due to pressure from the bladder
- Rectocele--prolapse or bulging of the vagina due to pressure from the rectum
- Enterocele--prolapse or bulging of the vagina due to pressure from the small intestine in the space between the rectum and vagina
- Uterine prolapse--bulging of the vagina due to loss of support of the uterus
The Clinic offers treatments for prolapse including:
- Pessaries—silicone devices placed in the vagina
to support the prolapsed vagina, bladder, rectum, or
uterus. When properly fitted and cared for, pessaries
can be worn comfortably and safely for many years.
- Surgery—surgical treatments are available in
some cases to treat prolapse
