Evaluation will focus on whether:
Assessment of Ovulation
Several tests are recommended to make certain ovulation is occurring, including:
- Daily basal body temperature graphing
- A serum progesterone level. This hormone is only secreted after ovulation.
- Urine LH (ovulation) detector kits
Evaluation of the female reproductive tract
A variety of conditions including endometriosis, previous pelvic surgery, past pelvic infections, uterine fibroids, or other congenital malformations of the uterus can contribute to infertility. These abnormalities are assessed by a variety of tests:
- Hysterosalpingogram (HSG ) , performed in cooperation with the gynecologist and radiologist, involves injecting contrast fluid into the uterus and fallopian tubes to show the anatomy of the uterine cavity and determine if the fallopian tubes are open
- Transvaginal ultrasound helps detect uterine and ovarian abnormalities that may impair fertility, and is an area in which our experts excel
- Laparoscopy detects pelvic disease by looking through small incisions and telescope-like instruments to view the pelvis and abdomen.
Evaluation of Sperm Count
The Reproductive Testing Laboratory can help identify potential male infertility factors.
For those issues that involve male fertility factors, patients will be referred to the Male Fertility Clinic.
