Treatment Options: Surgery

Surgery can correct some conditions, including:

  • Endometriosis, a common condition where endometrial glands become implanted in the pelvic cavity, outside the uterus
  • Uterine fibroids, common smooth muscle tumors of the uterus that may interfere with fertility by impairing fetal implantation and perhaps causing miscarriages
  • Pelvic adhesive disease, a condition in which adhesions from scar tissue may interfere with fertility by blocking the fallopian tubes.
  • Tubal ligation reversal, re-connects the fallopian tubes.

In most instances, UI surgeons perform minimally invasive surgery to correct these problems.
