Residency Director Comments

The University of Iowa Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency offers the opportunity to obtain training at a nationally recognized program with world-class facilities.  The University of Iowa residency offers the surgical, obstetrical and subspecialty volume to become a well-trained private practitioner or to pursue a subspecialty fellowship. 

Our faculty are nationally recognized.  We have members who serve as board examiners, sit on editorial boards and major obstetrical and gynecology journals and have been editors and contributors to major texts in Ob/Gyn.  We have recently moved into a State of the Art labor and delivery suite and are currently building a new clinic facility and ambulatory surgery center. 

We have faculty dedicated to teaching.  Many of our faculty have received recognition through the College of Medicine and nationally for their contribution to resident and medical student education.  Many of our faculty are active in research and have NIH grants and publish their findings in the obstetrical and gynecology literature.

Iowa City offers a high quality of life outside the hospital with a number of cultural recreational opportunities for our residents.  In summary, we believe we offer the opportunity to become an excellent obstetrician/gynecologist in a friendly, academic environment with world-class facilities.
