Alternative Treatments
Alternatives for correcting myopia include eyeglasses, contact lenses
and other refractive surgeries such as radial keratotomy, intracorneal
rings, or intraocular lens implants.
Radial keratotomy (RK) uses a calibrated diamond blade to make
radial incisions in the cornea. This procedure is available to reduce
low levels of myopia.
Intraocular lens implant (IOL) is a procedure in which a synthetic
lens is implanted into the anterior or posterior chamber of the eye. This
procedure is under investigation and not available at this time.
